The Warren Astronomical Society is a non-profit organization of amateur astronomers serving the Metro Detroit area.
By-laws of the Warren Astronomical Society, as last revised and ratified by the Society on March 5, 2012.
We meet twice monthly for presentations given by WAS members, by other local amateurs, and occasionally by speakers of national prominence:
We host monthly open houses at our Stargate Observatory - see the schedule. Visit soon!
The Society emphasizes volunteerism and public outreach. In addition to volunteering for events like the
"Astronomy on the Beach" star party at Kensington Metropark, our members (who live all over the Detroit area)
are happy to give talks to schools and other groups young and old. If you'd be interested in
having a club member talk to your group (whether in the classroom or in the field), please
contact us.
The Society communicates online via the WarrenAstro Yahoo! Group. If you want to receive notifications about club and general astronomical events, please join the group. We also use a Meetup group to communicate about upcoming events.
